Opiza monastery
Opzia monastery is located in far south of Adjara. This monastery was built in V century during rule of Vakhtang Gorgasali. Back then monastery was significant spiritual and cultural center of Georgia.
In VIII century Ashot Kurapalat renewed monastery and added dining hall. Today you can find Imagery of Ashot in Fine arts museum of Tbilisi.
Famous goldsmiths Beqa and Beshken Opizars were crafting here in XII century. Their work is rich part of Georgian cultural heritage.
